Fukuzawa Yukichi's (1834-1901) Bunmeiron no Gairyaku ("An Outline of a Theory of Civilization", 1875) -- I read a Chinese translation of this book today. Very impressed by the "civilizational strategy" for Japan during Meiji era that was very pragmatic and has clearly been proven to be correct. The surprising thing to me is that Fukuzawa's view on traditional learnings are actually very balanced -- most of what he wrote then I believe are still mostly correct, after some 130 years.
