I flipped Chase Robinson's Islamic Historiography again today, and caught a line that effectively say - look, no matter how much we modern western scholars wished otherwise, the path al-Masudi took to write history was a dead end in the Islamic tradition - not being followed up by others, maybe with the exception of the other isolated figure of al-Miskawiyah.
Reason to consider taking him off the CWANA list.
