I have been reading The Oxford History of Historical Writing (Vol 2, 2012), and also the "Introduction" in the Oxford World Classics of Bede's History, and comes to the conclusion that Bede's vision is really quite limited compared with say the Byzantine George Synkellos and his collaborator Theophanes.
Probably will drop Bede from list of 150 if I ever revised the list.
